Alsóörs is one of the most popular holiday-resort of the worthily famous lake Balaton. The clear silky water of the “Hungarian sea” provides you a real source of recreation, and fun. Its well-kept beach attracts families with young children, since they can safely splash, or plash from the water-chute into the shallow water. Adults may try light water-sports, like water-bike, or kayak, and sailing and surf are available for the brave. Families and friends have a good opportunity for boat trips to discover the breathtaking scene of the lake Balaton. Among the most popular sights Tihany abbey and Festetich-castle must be mentioned in the first place, along with the classicist round church in Balatonfüred. Nature lovers may rumble across Somlyó hill to the Csere hill look-out tower, from where there is a fine prospect to the whole lake Balaton. Those who are keen on cycling may take a tour on the recently built cycle path around the lake. In the fields a family riding-school is available for those who would like to learn riding, and mounted tours are organised for advanced riders. The main attraction of Alsóörs is the gothic mansion, or as we call it Turkish house, where exhibitions and concerts are held regularly. Only a few minute-long walk takes us to the roman church from the XIII. century, which was renovated a gothic, later in a baroque style during the centuries. Due to the co-operation between the local government and the citizenry the settlement is very well-kept, and richly decorated with flowerbeds. Returning guests also speak volumes of the hospitality of Alsóörs. The open air beach disco built next to the lake Balaton provides an enjoyable leisure-time for young people every night during high season. Those, who prefer less loud free time activities, we suggest going to atmospheric restaurants, among which there are some where life music entertains guests. Hosts offer their fruity vine in their remote little vine-cellar to the curious. If you happen to spend your evening with your family or friends, grill meats, or prepare our “speciality” , the “fried bacon” in our garden and enjoy the amiable summer nights.
